Diana Kaarina takes us into the fast lane…

Diana Kaarina

(Diana) was great! She inspired great questions, and had wonderful responses and very valuable answers! I especially liked her speaking on transitioning from theatre to microphone, and the mindset going into a session. Thanks again! It was very helpful and inspiring! – Robert

This month DIANA KAARINA took the wheel and navigated us through her transition from Broadway Musicals to the small space behind the microphone. She talked about the ways her musicality both supported and interfered in the beginning, why working with a head-set works for her and how the broad gestures of the big stage come into play inside studio walls. Sweet innocent looking people with big voices can break antique microphones, and sometimes little preparation goes as long a way as a lot! Thanks for sharing your secrets, Diana! We’ve all been/bin doing everything just a little bit faster, ever since.

DIANA KAARINA started in voiceover with the Ranma 1/2 series, ran off to do Broadway shows, and then came back to Vancouver.  She re-established her Vancouver voiceover career with the role of Barbie in the DVD movies, and then went on to principal roles in “She-Zow”, “Maya the Bee”, “Strawberry Shortcake” and “Mighty Mighty Monsters”.  She has also appeared in “My Little Pony”, “Geronimo Stilton”, “Dinosaur Train” & “The Deep” among others.

Characters’ Voice Roster Talks is an initiative to encourage community at a time when a great deal of voice casting is done by mp3/self-tape, and actors don’t bump into each other as often at auditions. It’s a chance for those who have been doing this for a long time to soak up the energy of those who are getting started… and an opportunity for those who are getting started to connect with each other and with this industry that’s at once all around them and just outside of their grasp.

The Talks encourage thought and discussion about the Big Picture in this industry. The Talks are a chance for Caroline and Annie to see, hear, and connect with their clients. The Talks aim to Educate, Motivate and Stimulate.
